Does anybody know the free length of the stock fork springs? Or the free
length of the Progressive springs? I know the Progressives are 31mm in
dia.
I am using the Progressive springs, 10w fork oil, 150mm oil level, and
no air.
I had a lot of bottoming problems on Sunday, twice I barely kept control
of the bike after getting bounced off the pegs. Aside from damping, the
bike pounds over rocks, holding a line acceptably, if not well.
Neil at A-Loop recommended using air assist, since he didn't know
offhand anybody that made stiffer springs for that bike. The air seems
like a reasonable compromise, since I can vent the pressure for road
riding. I would install a crossover tube and a single schraeder valve,
so I don't have to kill myself matching pressures. But increased
"stiction" would compromise the ride over trails carpeted with small
rocks, or on 3" chunk gravel.
Racetech makes a 25lb/in straight rate spring. I don't know the free
length, but the total force required to bottom one of those would be
significantly higher. The street ride would not be as nice though.
Any ideas? Anybody know of another bike that takes 31mm springs, that
would need 25-35lb/in progressive springs?

Devon,
How about just increasing the length of the spacer in your forks to
get a higher preload on the Progressive springs? That should help
with bottoming.

Yeah i was wondering the same thing about a lot of brands. CR? and if CR
stands for 'competition racing' or something, why is there the R after the
cc? The specific name for my bike is KL600A. What could the A possibly mean?
I know KX means kawasaki motocross, RM means racing machine, YZ means yamaha
zinger, and KTM means katoom.

Hey Devon, grant it I don't have alot of experience with the bike yet, but what about the Race Tech Gold Valve Cartridge Emulator that Arrowhead Motorsports sell.
