Hello everybody,
i own a 1999 KLR 650, i'm in Montr al in the province of Qu bec
(Canada).
This is the time i, usualy, put my KLR on the road. But i have a
problem and want to take care of it myself, if it's possible.
I start the bike with the choke on. It start normally. After i feel
the engine is warmd up i close the choke. This stop the engine! I
tried to start it again but nothing happens without the choke at on.
Also, when running (with the choke on) the engine stop every time i
turn tne throttle.
I think about a problem in the mix air/gas but i don't know where to
begin my trouble shoot.
Can you help me?

Dany, what your saying is the bike will not idle without the choke on. I would look at the pilot jet circuit, it's probably dirty, clogged. The best way to clean it is to remove the carb. Use carb cleaner and stick the red tube into all of the circuits (orifices) and shoot. Then blow it out with some air. Be careful around the rubber diaphram with the carb cleaner. The stuff will deform it. Ed A15> begin my trouble shoot. > > Can you help me? > > Dany Marquis

What Ed said, and don't forget to remove the idle mixture screw, and spray
carb cleaner into there as well.

Dennis,
I live in Central Point, OR. 30 miles over the California border.
I tried replying directly, but DMCFALL@... came back undeliverable.

There is a annoying rattle coming from the tack/speedo "console" that happens when on fairly rough dirt roads. The two bolts that anchor the console to the triple crown are tight. It appears to be coming from the mount inside the console. Question? Does removing the two 12mm bolts, that hold the fairing from the frame, allow enough space to get at the console? Any advice appreciarted. As a new KLR owner, thanks for all the info! Dennis ps-any other KLR owners in No Cal or So Ore?
