I just ordered the 16 front - I now run 75/5k with stock sprocket -
any idea how many rpm will drop ? 75/4500 ?? Does it mess with your
rpm gauge when you change sprockets, or does it stay accurate ?

75/5000 - sprocket change

The tacho measures the engine (well, the ignition actually) and the speedo measures the front wheel revs. Neither cares what the sprockets are doing. Mister_T Melbourne Australia> Does it mess with your > rpm gauge when you change sprockets, or does it stay accurate ?

75/5000 - sprocket change
The overall ratio of the stock 15T/43T (2.867)setup vs a 16T/43T
(2.6875) is about a 6% change, so that should lower the revs at a
given speed & gear by that much. Your tachometer measures the
rotations of the motor directly and is impacted by your choice of gear
ratios.

wolfman bag question
If anyone is contemplating ordering a Wolfman tankbag, Wolfman is now making a KLR-specific mounting assembly. If you don't specify (or order through Competition Accessories like I did), you get the generic mounting system. Eric at Wolfman says the KLR-mount sells for $10.00 for those who want to upgrade.
Also, thanks to everyone for all the sprocket/ gearing advice. I'm going to install a 16T front tomorrow and see how that does. Sounds like that may be all I need. Good service from Arrowhead, by the way, as my order was here in just two days!

I've been itching to buy the "glovebox" since i heard about it a few weeks ago. I keep checking his site:

but still no picture of it. Eric says soon.

This setup is very nice for those who don't want to go with hard bags. How do I know? Eric used my bike to prototype it! Consists of a largish duffel that contours to the seat that gets larger and hangs off a little on each side, with a small duffel that attaches to the larger one and sits on the luggage rack. No additional exhaust guards are needed. Quite a bit of storage space, very secure, looks good as well! Eric has also designed a small "glovebox" bag that fits over the (stock only) windscreen on the inside to give you a place to put your wallet, phone, other keys, insurance paperwork, tire gauge, etc. It came in very handy during my last Copper Canyon trip. I did use hard bags on the trip (Happy Trails SU racks, Happy Trails bag mounts, Pelican 1550 bags) but would use the Wolfman soft bags for long weekends and such. The new Wolfman Explorer tank bag also worked great for the trip. Checkout Dual Sport News at http://www.dualsportnews.com Be part of the Adventure!
