A fellow rider here in Kansas had his barn broken into near Garnett, KS sometime between 3/14/02 and 3/17/02. What size and color was his trailer? I get lots of trailers here in Moab and to my shop. I will keep my eyes open for any strange characters with new bikes. Of course that includes about 90% of the guys in my shop anyway. Fred http://www.arrowheadmotorsports.com Utah Motorcycle Rally May 30 - June 2 http://www.canyonlandsmotorclassic.com

Wild guesst hat all five were in the trailer or did they just pile them in there to take it? I can fully understand since I'm still waiting on State Farm's 30-day hold period until they pay off my three from the first of this month.. (the best month of riding all year, not a cloud in the sky, upper-70's, etc. ARGH!!!!!!)

You gotta replace the KLR PDQ since RM's Ride Of The Fart is in the planning stages again. I'd probably be in FL right around the end of the month. Anyone twixt SoCal and FL wanna ride? RM PS. I'll let ya take the KLR for a spin if you let me take the Miata around the block. :-)

For some reason I'm leaning more toward DR400S (new one) or a recent model of the DR350. The KLR is a really nice bike (give or take all the balancer deals) but after buying it and putting some decent miles on it I find I am using it far more as a dirtbike than as a touring bike.

Deal, though the Miata needs something more than a block. I have it set up for Sebring's 3.7 mile course. :)

Richard, If you plan on riding close to the New Orleans area, give me a shout. Be glad to try at least part of the ride with you. If you need any support, or just a hot meal or place to crash, let me know. Marshall in Slidell, La 95 KLXC3 "Blackhorse" (in honor of those who served)

Ever carry passengers? My usual pillion had to ride on the back of a DR-Z for 10 miles or so (off-road) and she bitched about it quite mightily. I'd love to have one but I'd need to keep a KLR around just for toting the occasional lady-friend up the mountain.

Yeah I carry passengers. Fairly frequently at that but hey, that's why they are on the back right? My biggest mistake was taking my roomate (and most frequent passenger) on the Aprillia demo days. She got on the back of the Capanord and was absolutely sold on the seats. I must agree that it's a bike I could rack up a few thousand easy, comfortable, confident miles in a week on. The Futura was also a very nice passenger carrying mount and that's a bike I'm seriously considering. It was actually nicer than the Mille, at least to me, for normal riding. For something more akin to Deal's Gap the Mille would be the 2nd fastest of the group. The fastest? That Capanord was just so EASY to ride fast that I was passing the other guys on the Mille's WITH a passenger and not even coming near it's limits. Too bad it's way to heavy for use off-road.
