the lever of evil tipped against me.

Post by bradklr650 » Wed Mar 06, 2002 6:32 am

So sunday I went for a 140 mile loop and on Monday I decided to change oil, lube chain, and adjust the balancer assembly. I lean the bike to the left and remove the cover to watch the part do it's stuff when I loosen the bolt. I do, it doesn't. I lightly probe the "slot" with a probe and I can swing it through both ends of it's range. I can also see a spring slightly below and foward of the adjusting bolt, don't think it lives there. I say to myself I do believe it's broken, 5800 miles, no strange noises, no extra vibes. I wonder how long it's been this way but who knows. I call Fred and order everything, except for the rotor puller tool, any suggestions on how to yank it out so I fix my poor girl, or any pullers for sale, loan, or rent. Also I have seen some nice photos of this assembly with the rotor removed, I don't remember who posted them or where, but they were much better than the ink blots in the manual(s), any help? Wishing I edited this before posting - I leaned to the right not the left, under a lot of stress I guess. Brad

Great pics!! Thanks man.. That helps clear up the sloppy mental image I had before... How much trouble was it to put the new doohickey on? Or, have you already posted that info? MotorMark

One the rotor is off, you just slide it on. The difficult part is the cover removal and re-installation (made easier when the bike is leaning to the right). RM

I have a question... Why is it easier when leaning the bike??? What is the purpose of leaning the bike? MM

trade your klr for my triumph tbird?

Post by lbank84 » Fri Mar 08, 2002 8:31 am

I'm wondering if anyone would like to trade their KLR650 for a '99 Triumph Thunderbird. The tbird has approx 3800 miles on it. It's 900cc. Saddlebags included. Excellent condition. I'm looking for $5,900. If interested please email me at LBank84@...
