I went to service my stock air cleaner and upon close inspection with
a flash light, found a bit of fine dust inside the carb side of the
airbox. It was way up on the left shoulder. This is upsetting to me,
as the bike is new, with only 1800 miles. Maybe 300 miles of offroad
riding. I suspected the seam around the top. So I wiped it off and
put my lips on the seam and at several places on both the left and
right sides I was able to blow through it. I just hope my engine
didn't swallow too much dirt.
Should I remove the airbox to seal it or just wipe some silicone
around the seam on the outside. Does the airbox just come out with a
couple of screws or do I need to remove the subframe? I haven't got a
service manual yet.
