nklr- az & nv or bust

Post by mokan710 » Sun Jan 13, 2002 9:05 pm

Hi all... I'm looking to head out to AZ and NV in mid-February and would like some good info on good areas to explore or rides to take. Will be on my trusty KLR and looking to stay on dirt or gravel roads. Unimproved roads are fine too. No single track though. I'm thinking of lonely and wide open spaces. Canyonlands would be cool too. Would also love to a do a "meet and ride" if things work out. Any and all information will be welcomed. Thanks in advance... "Mokan"

nklr - new flip-up helmet from hjc

I just purchased my first flip-up helmet, and am very pleased with it. It's made by HJC, and it's called the "Sy-Max." It's release lever is located on the "chin" of the crossbar, and all you have to do is pull it forward with one thumb. Not nearly as clumsy a procedure as the two-handed process required for some of the other brands. Returning it to the "down" position produces a confident "click." I found one on the internet for $199.99 (www.helmetshop.com). A local shop wanted $249.99, so I was pretty pleased with the price. It's DOT (but not Snell) approved. Fit and finish is great, and it's quieter than my HJC CL-10 (I use earplugs- foam inserts), but it does whistle a bit when I turn from side to side at highway speeds. Will have to see if I can tweek this quirk away. For what it's worth... "Mokan" P.S. I have no interest in the company mentioned.
