Fellow listers I subscribed to this list to read and learn about a type of bike I will soon buy. Frankly, I was between two brands and hoped I could learn from this list. But to much bs on threads that belong on another forum. For those that believe guns should be banded, think for a minute, the US Constitution, second amendment speaks clearly that citizens can own firearms. Period. For liberals that think the police will come protect you, check on their response time, You would be dead by the time they got there, then they could do their job. For those that expressed the opinion that a knife is all that is needed, you should think again. yes, a highly continuously trained persons, (FBI, Secret Service, Federal Marshal, etc) can do some amazing things to disarm an attacker. But they have continuous training and practice. Otherwise remember the story of the Polock that brought a knife to a gun fight. Knife loses every time. I have used a gun twice in my life to prevent death or serious injury. Once I walked into an armed robbery in a convenience story, the man had a 22 cal hand gun. (illegal for him to have a gun, he was a felon) Fortunately I was able handle the situation because I was armed and properly trained. The second time the presence of the gun stopped the robber without gun fire. He broke into my house. As several law enforcement friends have told me: be well trained, practice often, and it is better to be judged by 12 in a court house than carried by 6, and understand we cannot be there to protect you. Statistics show that the states that have concealed carry laws have had a significant decrease in violent crime. It is simple, a crook is not going to take a chance on picking the wrong person to rob or worse. He will move on to someone that he knows is NOT armed. Thanks for the bandwith, now can we get back to motorcycles, if not I'll unsubscribe in a few days. Ride Safe Kenn Clark AMA BMW MOA Life HRCA IBA 7758 MSF Instructor

Is this what they call putting your foot in your mouth before you shoot yourself in the foot? Relax Ken, it was just too easy to let this one by without comment. ;-) Thanks, *************************************************************************** Russell D. Mark, you are funny. I only want the machete for protection, camp preparation, and maybe some weed chopping. I'm pretty good with a sword or a knife. It was a passion when I was a child/teenager. I'm not Special Forces good. But, I am probably better than most thugs out there. Hey, we'll do a flick on the trip. We can call it the "KLR Witch Project." Have a good day. Seems no way this list will ever devote more than about 10% to KLR's. One of those situations where 10% of people/topics get 90% of the time.
