Dear Yahoo. I used to be a happy user at several sites on groups.yahoo.com until I began getting all the blamed ads that pop up while trying to read online posts... Now, I am spending my time getting ticked at your sponsers because it takes me twice as long to read a post online. I assure you that the name recognition your sponsors are getting is not a positive thing as far as my purchasing power is concerned. Gimme a break Yahoo... when you took over egroups I thought great, more circulation... now it is just great, more commercialization to have to muddle through. CAN THE MANDATORY AD READING! THIS IS NUTS!! One of the allures of the groups.yahoo.com is it allows me to escape from the commercial world and view things I am interested in... now it is no better than TV... I know you have to make money and I can live with banner ads, but having to wait for an ad to popup and then having to click my way passed the annoyance to get to the post is insane. Sincerly a former happy user... who is looking elsewhere for news groups. LDK1959 fellow listers, feel free to copy the above and paste it in the below listed url... maybe it will help... who knows, squeaky wheel got greased once before. http://cgi.yahoo.com/bin/feedback?t=experience

I kinda feel the same way, but the old rule applies, Money makes the world go around. Now ads that are banners or sidebar or whatever they are called I can deal with. But today I have noticed them ads that take the entire screen, and require you to click past them, now THESE son of a guns are down right a pain in the mouse. When attempting to follow a thread and using the back button you get to see this MOST WONDERFUL ad, yet once again. Get first it was X-mas that turned commercial, then the damn flower retailers got into advertising, and started creating new frilling holidays that nobody on the planet heard of before. Then the jewels started there "you really dont care ads, unless you spend a years salry on her" ads. Golly Gee Batman, I think I want to find a nice cave (not in Afganistan either) to live out the rest of my old bitter life. Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh... Whats next ??? National Give Toilet Paper Days ? Duden A15 Pilot Just my $.01 worth.......

One way or another these companies are going to make money from the internet. The only way to do that is to A. Charge individuals on a per usage basis (this is waiting in the wings). or B. Charge advertisiers to post these ads. Eventually it will be both. If we don't like it, then one of us is going to have to set up our own server. And eventually, that will be impossible to do because no company will allow you to use their software to do it. We've allowed our selves to be boxed into a corner, and the only way out is to quit using the internet, or put up with these ads. It's interesting watching the balancing act between these companies and the users. Right now it's at about a 50/50 power struggle between what we want and what they want. When it gets to about 65/35 in their favor, we're not going to like it, but we'll pretty much go along with what ever they want. They know it. What's the option? Hmmm? Brad J. Morris A16 Illinois

I expect this sort of thing from Yahoo, but what really pisses me off is that previously reputable websites like The Weather Channel and AccuWeather, etc are doing all these pop-up ads. It's not so much the pop-ups themselves, but the content that bugs me... online slot machines?!?!?To make things worse, whe you attempt to close the window, another one pops-up and redirects you to some other sleazy site. These guys are getting as bad as the porn sites with their pop-ups and redirections, not that I've actually ever seen a porn site ;^) Mark B2 A2 A3

Actually there is an option. It's been around for as long as the good old USA has and longer. It has many names but the I like is called "voting with your cash". Let the advertisers whose ads bug know you refuse to even go to their site until the aggravation goes away. Of course then you have to do what you say. Don't bite, don't even light. It's kinda what we need to do to Kawasaki about their aloft warranty system. We'll fix then decide if you must pay. Anyway, the problem ads would not get my money. Oh.....and I never see the ads cause I have the list sent to my e-mail. That would be option 2. taf

choke operation

Have someone else hold their thumb on it while you gear up? Mine does the same thing. I do hate to waste that extra 10 seconds of ride time though.. There must be a spring somewhere on the little cuss that we could throw far away, no?
