bivy - it's like fartin in a jar
One of my favorite ways to camp is with a hammock and a tarp. This
obviously only works if you're riding someplace with trees (no prob in
the NorthEast), but it is much more comfortable and compact than hauling
a tent around. A good camping hammock is no bigger than your fist when
it is balled up and a tarp is something that has many many other uses
and is handy to have regardless.
