For anyone interested in this clothing, please consider MY OPINION first. I bought a Meteor 3 jacket for myself and Ballistic jacket for wife. We both got Rocket pants as well. After about 400 miles, I am sad to say the Meteor/pants combination is not fully designed in that they don't work well together. Yes the zipper in rear works fine, but the front is missing a connection between jacket and pants. The jacket rides up enough to put a choking pressure on my neck. Certainly with the arm vents open its considerably worse, but vents closed has some of this same effect. I wrote to Rocket and asked them to consider putting a velcro strap or similar to connect jacket to pants in front. I also inquired how I might go about being more happy with Rocket products. A very quick response from a manager started by saying "I don't know what to tell you" ..... and we will ask design dept. to consider your idea. To say I am unhappy is an understatement. I will visit the dealer that sold the jacket sometime this week. I can only hope he has some flexibility to help me restore confidence in Rocket. I strongly suspect I would not have this if I was able to test ride the equipment before buying, but was not afforded this opportunity.

I have the Balistic jacket and pants. I contacted them via e-mail to ask about getting extra material to lengthen the legs on the pants. They could not provide it, as the gear is made for them. But still I have 3000 miles on the stuff, and I love it. Works well in the Canadian climate,, rain and cold to 90 degree summer days. Just wish the pants were longer in the leg, they ride high when your sitting on the bike. But all in all I would buy it again............... 2000 KLR

I have the ballistic pants in a tall size for wet weather. I've had them for three years or so. They work well, and have their shortcomings, too. Like too-small zippers, and not enough pockets, and a funky belt arrangement that isn't too good. But they fit well and are always water proof. The kevlar knees are quite tough. I've had several friends who've returned their stuff for quality issues. I generally prefer good quality leather-wear, if weather is permitting. By the way, I'll be riding across Iran and Afghanistan this spring, and was wondering what I should take for a portable dwelling, and also a personal security weapon. I've heard that some of the locals there are not friendly to tourists. Anyone know anything about that?

Uhh, boy does that sound like a bad idea or what? Are you an American, or from another country? If you're an American, I'd seriously rethink your plans. As far asa weapon, if something happened, I'd hate to think of what they would do if they found you with one, if if you had to use it, we'd never see you again. Ryan

By way of contrast, I've had my new Joe Rocket Tahoe jacket for about a week now and am very happy with it. Build quality and fit are both outstanding. -Tom '96 KLR 650

back in the good old days, American tourists could plaster Canadian flags their gear and just say "'eh" a lot. These days a Canadian flag will just get you shot, ditto for just about any other country's flag. With Afganistan, I doubt there's any flag in the world that would keep you safe... somebody's going to want to kill you; and I sure wouldn't be wearing an Afgan flag right now - not anywhere. It trully is an us or them. Maybe a Malaysian flag... think he could pass himself off as a Malay?? David... A4 Victoria BC Canada.
