how many watts can i safely pull before i start getting in the red zone...i want to run a set of 25 watt lights, direct from the battery on a seperate fuse and relay...why you ask???i have had three seperate occasions where the ten amp fuse has burnt out,(at night) no lights except for braking...my fix has been stepping up to a 15 amp fuse, so far so good, no wires burning up...any ideas, and any info on useable wattage??? Hi Rod. If you don't know, I'm a french canadian who is still learning english.. so I'm not a perfect writter yet. Take a look at this link: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DSN_klr650/files/Mods/klr650-a15.jpg That's my prototype on my A15. I'm running a set of 55 watts each (I think there's an A3 bulb inside). It is connected directly to the battery, with is own fuse and switch. I'm using them only at night, meaby 1 or 2 hours at a time, and the stock stator seem to be able to produce enough power (12.7 volts and +) at 4000 RPM. Below that rpm, it's the battery and the voltage is under 12.7v (between 11v and 12.5v if I remember). I was able to start the bike without any problem after 2 hours of riding with the lights on (and the main light set to high position). I'm still working on a new bracket to attach the lights on the bike. As soon the prototype will look perfect, I'm gonna post the drawing on the files section of the list. I was at Wallmart last night and noticed they sell these little, traffic signal size halogen driving light set (pair) for about $15. Seems they would easily mount the the KLR fairing and can be adjusted vertically. Would probobly easily wire into the free wiring under the fairing too, but might be nice to add a switch to turn them on and off. Anyone tried this? Next time I'm there I'll take a picture, or maybe even buy a set and try it first.

don' waste your money I bough a set or them and they are not worth the money and wont hold up to vibration I put them on my freightliner (vibrates allot less than my bike ) never got a bulb to last more then 3 or 4 hours before the element would break or burn out . I ended up throwing them in the trash. they have come way down in price they were 49.95 when I bought them . but even at $15 that seems to much they might stay on a car but I would not bet on it. I think the problem with them is that they get very hot and the element gets to soft to stay together. the same bulb in the square or rectangle seems to be all right they don't build up as much heat . I tried three sets of the small ones before I gave up on them courtesy of walmart return policy. James Gregory Arkansas
