On a recent ride I stopped in Trinidad for fuel, parked the bike and started in on
a bottle of Gatorade, just relaxing. While there, a couple of Harley riders pulled up.
I instigated the small talk with "Where you headed?" and got "Did 700 miles from
Dallas, going to Sturgis.". I told him that he'd probably run into my bro-in-law as
my mind churned (You're going to Sturgis from Dallas and you're in Trinidad?!?
You're way out of the way.). Anyway he asked if I was from there, and I told him no,
that I had done an all day ride through the Wets and Sangres on dirt. "So far I've
ridden 500 miles." "ON THAT?!?!, 500 miles of DIRT?!?! I guess you do have lights
and it is an enduro." Inside I laughed. His buddy came out of the store, give me a
condescending look, and sped off without a word. The first guy and I told each other
to have safe trips and he sped off to catch his buddy.
Harley riders ain't that bad, but it seems that for every one decent one, there's at
least one that's stuck up.
"Swede" - One of these days I think I'll go to Sturgis on a V-Twin: Highland or KTM.

#1 I don't believe in that encounter group stuff. #2 I was out riding and stopped for fuel (if you actually read the post) and the Harley riders pulled up next to me, I was minding my own freaking business until HD1 had a look on his face like he wanted to ask a question, but was afraid to. So I broke some ice, and acted with some common courtesy, freakin sue me! HD1 and I had a decent conversation until HD2 took off.> Were you out for a ride or for some kind of encounter group meeting? >
I never said a freakin word to HD2 because he was trying to figure out where to put his bottled water, and didn't look like he even want his friend talking to me. Never pushed anything.> > If people on H-D's have a "keep to themselves" attitude why do > people have to keep pushing the issue? >
I throw a hand out at any bike I meet, if they don't wave, BFD. I don't get mad. That post didn't have anything to do with waving, you'd look like an idiot waving to someone standing next to you.> > If they don't wave back why do you keep waving at them? >
I don't get pissed at someone looking down their nose at me. No, I don't like it, but I'm not going to get pissy over it, like you did to that post. If you can't handle HD bashing, you probably shouldn't be on this list, because it happens a lot here. "Swede" - dude needs to CTFO!> > Do you enjoy getting pissed off? >

I understood this was a list about klr's and dualsport
motorcycle's, not bashing this brand and that. I ride
a harley pratically everyday, except the days that I
feel like riding my klr, or my honda. Lets have a
little respect for the sport, not just the people that
do it always as we do.

You ride a Harley? You gotta be kiddin. Don't you know they are slugs? Do you have fringies on the handlebars? How about one of those little "yarmulke" helmets?> a harley pratically everyday, except the days that I > feel like riding my klr, or my honda. No fringies, just the leather helmet with a spike.
I save the fringies for my leathers, long enought they
make cool sounds in the spokes

Of course they're decent people. It's ridiculous to suppose that their chosen marque of motorcycle makes H-D riders qualitatively different from any others. Several guys I know ride H-D's, & we often joke about their "frilly" bikes. I never heard any of them spouting anything remotely as asinine as flicking a booger (described in loving detail) on someone's bike because that someone omitted to return a wave. I like to think that riders of ANY bike in the world would wish joy of the morning to another rider beating the sh*t out ANY dumb f*ck who flicked a booger on his bike for ANY reason. I know I would! ===== Joel Newtson jnewtson@... __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Make international calls for as low as $.04/minute with Yahoo!
