So what are some recommended off road pants
John,
I like Wrangler's Field Pant. They have Teflon Coated Cordura Nylon Facings that offer some protection agains light rain, early morning dew like you might encounter in a meadow or overgrown logging road. They do pretty well shedding water splashed-up in creek crossings. They seem pretty tough but I'm a pretty tame rider these days. So, can't vouch for how they'd hold up in a spill. I've been wearing 'em in the heat. It was 104F on the last ride (wished I would've encountered some water on that ride.); the pants were tolerable, considering.
I bought mine a Tanger Outlet Mall in Sulpher Springs, Texas for $10 a pair. Doubt if I could find 'em at that price again.
