I don't know, but I almost have to agree with some points. Except the rain gear, I do have a 10 year old suit. I ride my bike to work come hell or high water 02APR to 31OCT year in and year out. The only thing that will keep me in my cage is a snow/ice storm. I do have a 70 mile round trip commute. I am not afraid of the cold (come on up and visit on a sub-zero Feb. weekend when were out riding Lake Winnebago), just the other drivers on the road seem to lose all common sense once the water freezes. I've only been on this board for a coupla months and it seems like all people do is piss and moan or call each other an idiot for wanting to change something on your bike. What the hell you want to change your pipe for, that other thing is too loud! Loud? How about a 4-1 Kerker with a 2.5 inch Competition exhaust 0n a 1200 cc air cooled Kaw 70 miles a day for 6 years. That's loud. Makes the open pipe harleys mild by comparison. No, a lot of times I truly don't care what other people think of me and my bike. I'm not riding it for them. My front brake sucks, it doesn't stop me from riding. I had the back end in the air the last stop I had stop hard. My 01 wags it's head every so often. I just stand on the pegs a bit and it goes away. Seems bunch of people bought these things expecting a couch with knobbies. You didn't get one. Quit whining and deal with it. Hopefully I pissed off all the pansies, will the real riders please stand up?

I dunno. I was supposed to meet him there to cheer him on with Kirsty, but I had a front tire puncture at 75mph on I-99 in Altoona Friday morning. I got home from the hospital after a 9 hr visit...I'm a real mess and can't walk or even get out of bed to crap without assistance for at least a week, maybe two. Big laceration all the way into my knee joint requiring 24 stitches along with a deep puncture in my other leg and other boo-boos. At least I can still use my PowerBook....the extra time on my hands will allow me to catch up on my internet porn in between passing out. Mark B2 A2 A3

Err, you're aware the last dickhead got nuked for dissing everyone? Using the unsub function is a lot quicker if you just want to get off the list... My 2c - The KLR is a very old design. People aren't moaning, they're just asking if there are fixes or improvements available - and there are. If the KLR was great stock, there wouldn't be the huge aftermarket that exists. Everyone has their own needs and wants, some want the best braking they can get etc. The fun of a KLR is you can custom it however you want, and the base bike is dirt cheap. If you're happy with it, fine. But don't lay some macho bullshit trip on people who want to improve things. Fuck, if everyone had your attitude, we'd still be rubbing sticks together to make fire. Thanks Zack. Ya, here's what I've learned: 1) Use SLIME. This happened on the only bike I have that didn't have slime. This would NOT have happened if I had slime in the tire. Fuck the stupid "unsprung weight" conjecture. 2) My full-face helmet prevented my face from looking like Quasimoto's. 3) I wish I had a lightweight armor jacket like a Hein Gericke Taureg. I'm glad I was wearing more than a T-shirt though. 4) I normally wear knee pads, but in my haste to get going, I completely forgot. I going to make a trip checklist now. 5) I'm glad I had good hiking boots and moto gloves on. They self-destructed, but they saved me. 6) The KLR does amazingly well in a slide. Basically, the front end started getting uncharacteristically squirrelly (even though it was gusty that day). I looked at the tire and noticed that it was half-way to flat and going down fast. I tried to bleed off the speed and get to the right, but within about 3-4 seconds, the tire was completely flat and the bead broke. It was as if I had a banana peel for a tire and the bike was uncontrollable. It began to oscillate with increasing amplitude. I knew I was going to crash, I just didn't want to go down and subsequently get run over by a truck, so I was able to at least make it to the right and successfully low-side it. I was still doing 68mph when I hit the pavement. The bike slid nicely and did a 180; I slid and rolled about 15 yards on pavement until I shot out under the guard rail into a ravine. Traffic was moderate and several people stopped immediately to help and the ambulance was on the scene in about 6 minutes. Mark B2 A2 A3
