bigger sprocket

I have been cosidering putting a bigger sprocket on my KLR to decrease the RPM when I'm on the highway but someone told me that you couldn't put a bigger rear on. Has any body put a bigger sprocket on there KLR. Mitch, San Bernardino

See 2 more storage nooks you can make on your KLR650. What difference is there in putting a smaller sprocket on the rear or a bigger one on the front? Does it pan out to being the same comparitively speaking?
