Has anyone tried removing the decal from the gas tank on the 2001
KLR? There seems to be a clear coat and I don't want to screw up the
paint. I think the bike would look much better with out them.
Thanks for any info

dual star center stand

About a month ago someone posted a message that their centerstand was
not raising the bike off the ground enough for free rear tire
rotation. I hadn't used mine in a while and didn't give it any
thought. Now mine seems to be afflicted. Don't know if it is
because the rear tire is brand new, but the few times I have used it,
I don't seem to recall this being a problem in the past. What was
the cause of this? How was it resolved? I seem to recall that it
was sent back for repair?

That was probably my post you were thinking about. I sent the stand
back to Dualstar about six weeks ago and got it back last Saturday.
The repair consisted of a couple of beads of metal being welded to
the area of the legs where they come in contact with the base plate.
This seems to be the weak point of the design of the stand and I'll
bet if you remove your stand you will see some wear on the legs and
base plate on yours. I don't think I will reinstall the stand on my
bike unless I take a cross country trip. I have been doing more and
more off road riding with the KLR and since I got one of the Larin
stands from Sam's club the list was talking about, I don't have much
need for a center stand anymore. BTW, there was no charge for the
repair from Dualstar although you will have to pay for shipping to
get it to them.
