Post by ricbon@minot.ndak.net » Fri May 25, 2001 7:20 pm

Hello group, Just joined this group, I also belong to the W650 group. I have a 2000 w650 which I like very much. Going to keep the W just the way it is...stock...I have this biggest urge to buy a KLR650. I like a bike that is just a little different...you don't see that many around here anyway.. not to mention I have the only w650 in town. I have done alot of homework on the KLR650, so I have some what a idea what the bike can do...anyone here have a KLR650 that he or she just had to have and after buying one was sorry about getting it? I like the idea that you can buy some soft luggage for it..more then I can say for my w650...the bike would be just for around town and maybe a few short trips of 500 miles...I am not much on the off road riding tho...my wife thinks it looks a little odd...and thats what I like about it......I realize this is a age old question here..but if someone wants to take the time to answer, will be happy to read all...should also mention over the last couple months have looked at a lot of bikes...road bikes...the v bikes...harley..but what catches my eye the most is the KLR650....thanks R.J.

RJ, A few months ago Peter Alonso sold a BMW to buy a KLR 650. After much enthusiasm about finding one he sold it not long after. I had thought about asking him why "specifically" it didn't work for him, but I didn't bother because I'm happy with mine. I found this post below in the archives but deleted his e-mail address from my address book. Infidel !!! I think his email ends with ...@hotmail. I'm not sure why the archives do this to the addresses? You might ask him why he didn't like the KLR. bogdan's brakes

Isn't there some kind of reed check valve in the master cylinder piston? I rebuilt the brakes on a KZ a few months ago, and remember a little star-shaped reed with 5 or 6 fingers on one face of the piston. Definitely remember this in the rear, not so sure with the front. Maybe that is the problem. Have you tried rebuilding the master/pulling its piston out? C -- Dr. J.
