Read something interesting on the net the other day. Wyoming's Constitution
is written in such a way, that the Federal Government has no jurisdiction and
the County Sheriffs have total jurisdiction over their counties. The Sheriffs that
realized this, require Federal Agencies to report their activities to the Sheriffs,
and if the Feds step out of line with what the Sheriff deems proper conduct,
the Sheriff has the power to arrest them. Isn't that cool? If only the Sheriffs of
the counties that Yellowstone is in realized their legal power, they could tell
the non-accessists and the NPS to go fly a kite on banning snowmobiles or
the USFS on the "Roadless Plan" and closing trails/roads. I've been told the
same thing holds true for Colorado Sheriffs, but haven't gotten to read our
constitution to verify.
