Hi, Any opinions on the Kawasaki tall shield vs the Clearview? Anyone
using the 11" Clearview? Thanks, Bill Keeler A15

Hey, can't speak from personal experience yet but the consensus was the Rifle
tall shield was only one to buy. That's the one I'm getting. My 2 cents.

Second the motion.....
The rifle has a stiffer support bracing at its base,
where its needed and used..........
Clearview, upon request will make a thicker
(3/16" ?) screen which approaches the same rigidity....
Both the Kawi stock and typical Clearview allow
the fairing to flex........more than I think it ought to......
I'm noticing light areas where the plastic is fatigueing
in my fairing after using a tall clearview for about 1 1/2 yrs.

I don't know about any list consensus, but I have the tallest Rifle windscreen and I love it. I stand 6'2". I used it all winter to keep the cold wind off my torso. I just took it off today and put the stock KLR650 screen back on to get more cooling breezes when I ride (the temp hit 83 degrees F today). -- Marc, KLR650 A12, Loveland, Colorado, USA> Hey, can't speak from personal experience yet but the > consensus was the Rifle > tall shield was only one to buy. No, the tall Rifle windshield does not limit the handlebar swing. I routinely turn to full lock in both directions.

Which tall, the 13 or 16. How tall are you? Size and rake make a big
difference on what works aerodynamically.
I just picked up a Clearview +9 heavy duty which looks pretty nice, however,
I get beat about the head with a vortex at 65-75, O.K. below that. I'm
6'1". What I can't determine from the photos I have seen is if the Rifle is
more vertical than the Clearview. If it is, then it might shed a different
vortex. Hard to eyeball the top height between Clearview or Rifle since
Rifle uses an adapter with a windshield.
Comments anybody? Professor in Federal Way?

Joe,
For safety reasons, I've never ridden with a wind screen that is taller
than the bridge of my nose. I prefer to look over the windshield & not
through it. Several listers report good results with completely
removing the KLR's stock windshield.
I've toyed with the idea of mounting a small "bug screen" about 8" in
front of the stock shield & above the headlight, hoping that it would
work similar to the bug screens on the front hood of pick ups & SUVs.
Maybe Chris Krok can design an attachment to his head light protector
that can be easily removed for off road riding.

I have a +11 heavy duty Clearview, and it works better for me. But I'm interested in what sweetie pie Krok or aero nut Morgan might think of a)installing directional vanes to raise the slipstream boundary above the head, and b) vanes or holes to relieve some of the negative pressure aft of the windscreen to help the slipstream boundary layer rise. The long distance 70 year old postal guy from Mississippi had aluminum vanes on his fairing to do the latter, but they looked like an Edward Scissorhands deal that could chop a fellow up in a fall.
