putting on the supertrap

Just getting around to installing the Supertrapp I picked up from Gine (thanx). Should I use some sort of gasket material at the connections between the pipe and muffler etc? And what? I don't know how many disk are in it right now but has a nice sound. I have a K&N high altitude jet kit I will be installing and want to let it breath a little better. K7N or Uni filter? Air box mods? and suggested jet starting points? All help appreciated.
