nklr- bike lift

Post by rwk@aol.com » Mon Apr 16, 2001 4:48 pm

Zach mentioned a guy who just bought the Sam's club bike lift. That was me and he is correct re: style vs function. Here I am staring at this brand new lift along with Jess and Zach and bitching to them that I'm gonna take it back and spend $300 more to get a lift with better paint and a super-duper set of adjustable lift arms to fit my beemers. Zach points out that the lift arms are nothing more than u-channels and can be removed and replaced by any arrangement of common steel channel I desire for about $10 worth of steel and some local welding. Voila! I guess I've been buying Beemers too long, I've got that mindset that I have to buy upscale accessories with upscale options to fit my funky teutonic rides. Sure the arms on the $99 lift aren't adjustable but they are removable, replaceable and the lifting mechanism still functions as a lift regardless of the arm configuration. For $99 it's a great buy.
