disc protectors
Is there really a demand for the ACerbis style disc protector for the KLR 650. I can injefction mold these and they will be identical to those factory produced. I would need at least 50 interested parties.

If, in fact, Acerbis is no longer making them, I can cast them from our proprietary 4x4 polyurethane, in your choice of colors, if one person is interested. However, we won't backwards engineer something like
this that is still in production by the original manufacturer.

Wouldn't there be a design patent on these things? Also, I had one
but gave it away because I wanted to see what was going on.

I'm sorry! That post didn't come out at all the way I meant it. I was commenting as a manufacturer on whether to copy someone's product, or not, and sell it.
What I meant to say was, even though I could easily reproduce a product like that, with better material, one at a time, I would hesitate to out-and-out copy a competitor's "in production" part.
Doesn't mean I wouldn't consider making a better one. We do that all the time.
Foot-in -mouth disease!
By the way, I was surprised at your suggestion of Marine Green. Almost all our customers either want black or contrasting or even bright shocking colors when they have a choice.

I think Acerbis might do it for 25 ordered. Problem is getting 25 KLRs to commit to anything. I doubt that will happen. : ----- Original Message -----
