Steve, A lot of aftermarket accessories are available from your dealer - the trick sometimes is finding out which importer / distributor carries their stuff. Many times you'll have to ring the manufacturer direct to get this name, then go to your dealer with this info - saves them trying (or not) to look up 6 different distributor's catalogs to work out where to get it from. Often a distributor will only carry part of a manufacturer's range - if they don't have it listed the dealer often can't special order it, and you'll have to go direct. I would go direct to Fred www.arrowheadmotorsports.com. Be aware that many of the manufacturers will ship direct, but use UPS or FedEX - slugging you with a $30 to $60 customs clearing charge. They don't like shipping USPS because they have no tracking numbers, but will usually do it if you explain your situation. Otherwise, you can clear it yourself, but this is a PITA. For custom stuff like panniers, rad guards etc you can have them made up yourself if you know someone good - you're paying Canadian labour rates instead of US - but I find its easier to just roll over and buy from someone like Tim, Big Cee etc as they are doing bulk numbers and have a proven product. They also cater directly to the KLR market and deserve support because of this. Make sure any packaging has listed on it 'Bolt on motorcycle parts made 100% in US' - under NAFTA this means no duty (still have to pay tax). Any dealer should be able to order a KLR bash plate through Tucker Rocky or whoever owns them now (Motovan I think). Bottom line - The Canuck buck suck.
