helmet tinted sheilds.am i stuck with sun glasses???

Post by Brett Wolcott » Sat Mar 17, 2001 6:49 pm

Hi all again.I have a full face helmet. But there is no tinted sheild made for it.Is there any universal sheilds made for helmets? Or if the PEAL N STICK shaded plastic film would work? Ive tried the shaded plastic on my windsheilds of my cars before and got alot of air bubbles in it. It looked like crap when I was done.Any suggestions appreciated..Thanks

A company called "Fog City" used to make dark plastic strips that you stuck to your clear screen. They worked well. Also kept you from having to carry two shields. Beats me if they are still in business or still make the product. Funny thing, dark shields are not legal in many parts of Europe (day OR night). Anybody know why? Pat Austin TX

Because some well meaning but misguided bureaucrat is trying to protect our European friends from themselves? Not unlike their US counterparts that think they should protect us by not allowing us to split lanes (even though their last major study, the Hurt report said it's actually safer), making it almost impossible to bring in a non-US model motorcycle, etc.... Did you put it on your self? Was it easy and did it have air bubbles in it when you were done.

Just clean the shield with water and dry before application and it sticks perfectly. I once made the mistake of removing one and reapplying without cleaning the shield and lost the strip. Now I use two small pieces of scotch tape for back-up. The difference the Sundowner makes is significant--about 11" X 1.5". Darrel
