I'm not sure if there is a dealer near you but here is a website for
the guy nearest me in Chestertown New York. He sells MuZs, Ural
Sidecar bikes, Rokon Trailbreakers and Royal Enfield. Its a cool
place to stop in. http://members.aol.com/uralrider/
Honestly though I can't imagine these being easy to maintain, even
the BMW K100 I had a few years ago required parts that rivaled
airplane part prices and it was still in the mainstream. Have you
considered the bullitproof mechanical qualities and vast selection
offered by our Japanese brethren, Kawasaki,Honda,Suzuki or Yamaha?
Surely there must be a steed worthy of your consideration in their
stable? I'm the former owner of many Fiats and not just 1 but 2
Yugos so I should not second guess your esoteric preference but
MuZ??? If you really want to step off the grid check out the Ural
Patrol offroad sidecar model.
The MZ is far easier to maintain than most BMW. Way cheaper too, in fact
thats ridiculous to think. Plastic is readily available.
The motor is a proven Yamaha workhorse thumper not available in the states
except for the new Yamaha Raptor ATV which is taking that venue by storm.
Comes stock with 48 hp, modifiable to 70hp. Motor is commonly used in
Formula Singles and the Skorpians are raced quite successfully. I have not
heard of any plaguing problems with the motor and parts are available from
Yamaha.
The Pantherr I have is basically a parts bin bike which means everything is
standard sized. They supply a frame and some plastic and that about it.
Most of the parts used are of very good quality. Paoli, Marchisini, Pirelli,
WP, these are quality suppliers. My nits are cheap switchgear. Brake
components are Grimeca which I hear are are possibly dubious, but I get 2
finger stoppies becuase it comes with steel brakes lines front and rear.
The entire setup is simple and basic. Handling is superb, I eat sport bikes
for lunch. My model would easily be a KLR-killer if the tank were larger.
Price is just slightly higher than KLRs, cheaper than anything else
comparable from Japan. Everybody I talk to has been very happy with their MZ
and comparing them to Ural, Fiat, and Yugos is ignorant. With the right
marketing MZ would shake things up in the good-value market.

The Black Panther is definitely bad-ass. Grimecas, nothing wrong with them either. Wilson's in Fresno had one for a long time, last I heard they were asking 5199 for it, brand new 200o model.> components are Grimeca

any klx 650 owners out there
I'm looking at a used KLX650 (off-road version) and am wondering if
what aftermarket parts and accessories are available. Are there
engine bash plates, exh.pipes, suspension parts, or fuel tanks
available. Do any KLR parts fir a KLX?
Does anyone have any specs on this bike or comparisons to the KLR?
Horsepower? Weight? Suspension travel? Size of stock fuel tank?
Any common problems with this bike to look for?
Appreciate any info.
