tire size help...please

Post by zircam@yahoo.com » Mon Jan 22, 2001 1:40 pm

Hello to all of you wonderful KLR people. I have to get a new rear tire and I think I have decided on the Kenda K270. Does anyone know what size the stock rear 130/70-17 translates to in Kenda's sizing scheme? Have I listed the correct size for the rear? I found the number at the Kaw web site since I am not at home. They measure their tires as 4.60 X 17 or 5.10 X 17. If the larger one will fit is there any problems with going with the wider tire? Off list replies are fine. Thanks, Robb '00 KLR650 "Clyde" Needs a new pair of sneakers.

Hi Robb, 5.10 on the rear and either 3.00 or 3.25 on the front, according to Mark, the "Kenda Evangelist". I currently use 5.10 and 3.25. Haven't noticed any problem. They're slick when new - conserve traction for a few miles. Dave A14 Richmond

Robb- The K270 on my KLR rear is a 5.10-17 with a 3.00-21 up front. If you ride in sand, there's a wider K270 available for the front. 3.25-21 I think. Lister CA Stu has one. I've not had any trouble with the 5.10 and have definitely put it through it paces. Darrel (would like have an extra set of wheels: one for Gripsters, the other for Kendas) *************** Hello to all of you wonderful KLR people. Via web. Seemed to hang up each time I hit 'Send'. I checked before sending again, but it's taking 30 minutes for posts to show up in 'Messages', so I saw nothing until it was too late. Impatient/Faithless Dave A14 Richmond
