I have noticed the the MUZ Black Panther and the KTM 640 Supermoto both have smaller front rims - looks like 17 inch as opposed to the normal 21 inch. Anybody know why they have gone this route? I thought when you went offroad, a bigger rim was better Dave A10

They are not offroad machines. Super Motard means a mix of tarmac and mud but fast steering and slicks, cut or intermediate, is what is used and 21 inch goes away. Makes a faster steering and less flexing wheel. Perhaps the ultimate B-road thrasher? Check out the the Husqvarna nox. I want one. 56 horse power and weighs 109 kgs. 10 000 euro for the interested. There is a growing movement to the new 20" front wheel for off-road bikes. At this time, tire selection is low, but look for that to change and I predict within 4 years, you won't set a 21" wheel on any dual sport or dirt bike. MR

Put the Duke on that list to. These bikes are more of a street bike, Ride one if you get the chance and you will see and feel why, Mike In a message dated 12/12/00 7:26:41 AM EST, david.hardingham@... writes: << I have noticed the the MUZ Black Panther and the KTM 640 Supermoto both have smaller front rims - looks like 17 inch as opposed to the normal 21 inch. >>

There are few examples of the KLR that I have been able to locate on the web. However, here are some SuperTT/Super Motard links: http://www.motorcycle.com/mo/mcfeatures/mcphotos/motardtitle.html http://members.aol.com/xr650rr/ http://hometown.aol.com/quickbrit/auto/index.htm http://motard.concode.com/ http://www.micapeak.com/Phil/stt/stt.htm Drew '95 KLR '79 SR
