front fairing frame

Post by Eric Lewis » Mon Nov 27, 2000 12:45 am

Aloha KORG, The steel fairing frame in front of/below the instrument cluster is bent, does anyone know if it is able to be re-shaped without braking it? It's been that way ever since I bought it and I'm really getting sick and tired of seeing it off-center. Any thoughts/suggestions? Also, just wanted to tell you all how much of a BLAST my friend and I had the other day riding the Poamoho trails. Scot, if you're there, great directions man, we went way up to the trail head just beyond the hunter's check in station (safe zone)! Lot's of mud and rock beds, KLRs ate them up!!! Going back again very soon, maybe over the Christmas break when my buddy is out of school. Came out covered in Red Dirt and then blasted back to town on H-1, we got some of the weirdest looks but it was great. Laterz, Eric A 8 GL 1200(in progress)

If you're looking for an aluminum case, you might want to look at the ones that Harbor Freight has for sale. I was thinking about using one as a topcase before I got a hand-me-down Givi E45 and the al case was only $29 or something... Being on the West Coast, I think that you should be able to find one of their retail outlets so's you can personally inspect it. Try searching for "aluminum case" at http://www.harborfreight.com and you should get three hits for cases, a 17-3/4'' x 12-3/4'' x 5-3/4'' case, 18'' x 12-3/4'' x 6'' case and a 17-3/4'' x 12-3/4'' x 5-5/8'' case. They range btwn $19-29. Good Luck and Ride Safe. Zack SE DC 1991 KLR650 "Buster" 1986 Concours -----Original Message----- From: thesquasher@... A new one cost $150.00 so I'm looking for a used one at garage sales and flea markets (might try pawn shops next). The 3 inch case is big enough to carry tools, spare inner tube, oil, and other repair type things. The bigger/taller cases would get in the way when I swing my leg over the seat to get on the bike.
