Hi, last friday a was riding on a highway when suddently my bike got a
power lost. I brought my bike to the road side and diagnose the
following: The bike don't like the throttle and it stalls if it revs
higher than 2k. Then I used the scooter method the bring it back home
on idle at 30km/h.
-I checked my carb and it seems fine.
-When I pull the choke I can make it rev higher to 4k
-The air filter is fine
-I changed the spark plug
-I going the check the battery and the inition coil tonight
DOES ANYONE EVER EXPERIMENT SUCH PROBLEM?

No expert but it sounds like something is messing with fuel flow. Given
that the choke gives it more life sounds perhaps a clogged jet? I'm
interested to see if others will concur.

Concur.... The symptoms indicate that it's starving for gas off of idle.
Probably a clogged main jet....
or....
The petcock tank-screen is getting gummed up, or a kink in the fuel line, or
the petcock itself................ But that doesn't jive with the
choke(enrichener) scenario.
Had a Harley that acted the similar way. After porting and flowing the
heads, bumping the displacement, and dropping in a larger carb, the bike
would start to starve for gas at WFO. Needed a hi-flow petcock.
Good Luck

Andre-
Also take a look at the vacume line that goes from
the top of the carb to the petcock......see if its kinked,
or gotta a tight 90deg. bend in it.......that might cause
what you've described.

I don't think that the KLR's petcock is vacuum actuated like on some other bikes. At lease its not on my '99 model. FWIW, it wasn't on my '95 either. Joe Nassif SFNM A13> Also take a look at the vacume line that goes from > the top of the carb to the petcock......
