Because the metal pegs are flat and a little wider, the space between the lead edge of the peg and the shifter is reduced making it a little crowded to shift. Might be nigh impossible with motocross or other heavy boots. See Photo: http://www.dirtly.com/images/Peg27.jpg> Looks to me like you have the IMS Pro Series footpegs.  You are also running the stock shift lever.  These are prone to snappage at the most inopertune times.  I would recommend the IMS Shift Lever as these are stronger and also longer, which should give you more room for bigger boots. It all boils down to: I wouldn't ride any dirt bike or semi dirt bike with rubber pegs. If you're going to be neutered, have it done under sedation, not out in the woods.   LOL About the KLR's vibration: It's getting better as mileage adds up. At 400 miles I thought I saw something in the right rearview mirror, but I was mistaken. The good ol Honda XR650L mirrors will fix that unless you don't want to see what is behind you. 8   Fred
