how to determine proper tire inflation pressure for on-r...

Post by BCSavWill@cs.com » Fri Oct 13, 2000 12:15 pm

Hi, Did I miss something? Heat air, it expands. In a container (tire) no room to expand. Therefore pressure goes UP. Boyle's law or something, can't remember. Anyway, if I leave my tires in the sun the pressure goes up. If I jump on the brakes in an airplane, the pressures go way, way up until the fuse plugs melt to let the tire down without exploding. 806,000lbs from 185mph to 0 in about 5000ft = many millions of foot lbs energy absorbed = heat = pop! Oh, tires work at 180 psi too Regards, Brian A14 D17
