reports of the death of the KLR are mistaken. Here in South Mississippi you can hardly find one to buy. In my small town alone there are 25. The KLR is allot of bike for the money and they are extremly popular in south Mississippi

Bum, I put a BMW sticker on the KLR's rear fender......lots of those wannabe yuppie guys now ask me "how do you like the BMW?". I tell them I like it just fine, today I'm riding a Kawasaki. I should put a ZX1100 sticker on my beemer.

Sounds like the folks at work, who upon noticing that there's a helmet in my office, automatically start making stupid comments like: "Oh, I didn't know you were a biker. Where's your tattoo? So, you ride a Harley or what? Ha-ha-ha...Big Bad Ed the Biker..." It never ceases to amaze me how clueless people can be. I usually just smile while I'm thinking something along the lines of "if you only knew what a freakin' idiot you sound like..." On the other hand, it seems to brighten up there day for some reason. I just got through replacing the rear shock and lubricating the swing arm bearings on my 92 KLR 650. Man what a nasty job!! The bike has about 20,000 very hard miles on it and I was very surprized that all the needle bearings were still in great shape. I had a major time knocking the swing arm bolts out of the frame. After a lot of liquid wrench and a lot of blessing and a 10lb. sledge and a very large drift punch they finally came out. I mixed my own grease with a mixture of graphite powder and moly grease and lubed the hell out of everything. This is one maintenance item I'll never neglect again I promise!!
