OJ, the KLR is slated to be as dead as Nicole Simpson. There's always a chance that if enough good souls such as yourself make their voices heard that Kawasaki will find a way around the emission requirements and continue to produce the KLR! Even if Mother Kawi doesn't head our cries all is not lost. The KLR is just too ubiquitous a model to disappear from the landscape in the near future. There will still be plenty of accessories and support for our beloved _used_ bikes for years to come. Hiro A. Watanabe - let your voice be heard!

As a taxpaying American, you are planning to ride any (established) trail you damn well please, anytime you choose. Of course you're running SJ oil. And deeply thankful to have it, too. I believe the Glock 40 mm is currently favored, except in bear country, where list wisdom now suggests you stand no chance of survival with anything less powerful than a .460 Weatherby Magnum. BMW has just created a 'new' model (F650GS) to target buyers that Kawasaki would be leaving!!! However, KHI knows the numbers better than we do...... i had a similar bike to the f650gs, but then i boosted the low end power on my klr, and sold the 50lbs of bricks for $3000. Now it's more like a klr again, and less like a beemer (hahahahaha). seriously, who cares. if they stop making them, just buy a different bike. with a little wind protection, i could easily get by with a honda. heck, where most people ride their klrs (street and dirt roads) i could get by with a 750 nighthawk. then i wouldn't have to check my valves at all. mw
