bottom fork screw

Post by bowman.kelley@c2creative.com » Mon Oct 09, 2000 4:10 pm

Reply to: Bottom Fork Screw Lads - The easiest way to get the screw out of the end of the fork is too hit it with air gun and an allen key socket. It happens so fast that it doesn't have time to turn itself internally. I can't remember how I used to do it before I had an air tool. Bowman Kelley "the Manhattan Bomber"

Well, I was kind of fidgety and was tired of reviewing technical stuff so I decided to relax and take a ride on my KLR. I left Cary about 9:30 am, the sky was clear and the air was still crisp. As I cruised down old US 1 highway I could tell Fall was on its way as I caught the scent of firewood burning and noticed the colors that the trees are beginning to take. After I turned off the highway and headed towards the little village of Bonsal, I saw the old Train Museum that I have been hearing about for years but never had time to find. I made a mental note to put the museum on the list of local spots to take my family. Past Bonsal, I came to Lake Jordan, which is a water source for the Raleigh/Durham area and is a popular spot for the local sportsmen. The road winds around the lake and crosses it a few times where the vista opens to reveal the Pine forests and the groupings of Maples and Poplars. I had to slow down once on this section of the road while a squirrel decided which way it wanted to skittle. The road I am on intersects Highway 64, which I reluctantly take as I realize it is time to head towards home. One hour and 20 minutes later I roll into my driveway, relaxed and optimistic about the day. Well, the final interview went well and it looks like a job offer is on the way. Now, I can t say it was all because of my morning ride, but I do think it played a part in defining my mental attitude that day. Ride on everyone and I hope you all have a good day today. I believe in the second amendment. I own guns. I hunt. My feelings on caring a firearm in Bear country while riding. You will probably never see a bear while riding a motorcycle. At least not very close to you, you might see one off in the distance. The noise is just to much for them. Also, even if a bear attacked you while you were riding you would probably end up shooting yourself. Try and picture pulling the trigger on a pistol with gloves on, with your left hand, while working the throttle with your right hand. Much practice is required for this to work. Alright, if you are camping I can see having a sidearm in the camp. But you better make sure it is a big one. 44mag as a minimum, 454 casuall is better, 300winmag is best. Also much practice is required. How many times have you shot at a charging bear with a handgun while you were shiting your pants. Enough about bears, what about crazy people. The deliverance factor. Well I can see having a handgun for this but not while riding. You should either out run them or stop and shoot at your attacker. Remember this KISS "keep it simple stupid" revolvers are simple, no safety, no magazines, no jamming, they always fire. If you have to have a semi auto a glock is probably the best, it really has no safety, I guess some people call that trigger tab a safety. What about Mexico? I would never carry a gun in another country unless we were at war. You have no freedoms in Mexico. Let's say you get pulled over by the Mexican police because they like your bike, you have a handgun, they find it, your ass is in a Mexican jail about to get several rectal exams. That is a risk I am not willing to take. Riding in Mexico or any other third world country is a risk I wouldn't make it worse by carrying a gun.
