Hey gang, Just wanted to share with you all what a fine day its shaping up to be here in the Seattle area. Yesterday a co-worker offered me a chance to ride one of his brand new bikes: a Hayabusa, RC51, or R1150GS! Choices, choices, choices! Well of course I settled on the RC51(Honda VTR1000). Yesterday we were planning on going to the local Vintage Motorcycle Entusiast meeting here in Seattle tonight, when out of the blue he offered me the chance to sample his rides. I rode my KLX the 20 miles to his house this morning, a great ride in itself. Winding country highway, little traffic, lots of heavy fog, and freezing cold. My fingers were going numb when I pulled into a bakery a few minutes from my his place to warm up. After recovering I got to his place, and we unceremoniously swapped bikes as the sun started to warm things up. Then I took the long way into work from his place. First impression: this bike is tiny. Second impression: this thing is ungodly fast. Third impression: this thing is ungodly fast. Forth impression: I love the sound (Micron carbon fiber pipes). Fifth impression: I love this thing! I rode pretty mellow not wanting to wad his new bike, but I had a great time hitting some local twisties, then hitting I90 for some superslab. Its amazing how much fun it is being able to zip from 70 to 100 effortlessly! The bike is very easy to ride, fit and finish, top notch, its an impressive machine. Later we'll ride to the VME meeting, it'll be fun to ride the RC51, it'll be one of the few non-vintage bikes that will get any attention. The VME is one of the few bike gatherings where some serious modern machinery will barely get a second glance, its fun. Anyway, thanks for listening, obviously I'm pretty excited to be able to sample a bike that I would otherwise never have had the chance to ride, much less take out on my own for a spin on my favorite twisties. Oh yeah, I still love the KLX! Ed

Yeah, he's great about "sharing the wealth". And we didn't actually trade bikes, so he hasn't ridden the KLX. I dropped off my bike in his garage and headed out on his RC51. I must have been quite a sight at 6'6", all cramped up on this little thing with my blue Darien jacket and pants, and my motocross boots on! Could I have looked more un-Joe Racer like? Did I care? Hell no! And it turns out he sold the RC51 today! He just called and asked me if I'd mind riding his Huyabusa to the VME meeting ('cause he was going to the bank with the buyer to seal the deal on the RC51). Oh yeah, its going to kill me. Plus if I want, I can try the Beemer on the way back from the VME meeting! So it was a good thing I decided to take the RC51 today, I was going to take the 'Busa as I was sure I'd get a chance to ride the RD51 some other day and I felt a little wierd about riding this guy's prized bike, then I thought, what am I crazy, I may never get another chance to ride one of these things. Moral of the story: seize the day, because you never know if you'll get another chance to do something. Ok, so that's a little dramatic, but if you love bikes, you know what I'm saying. Every day should be this tough. :^)

That sounded like tons o' fun. It's not a bad day down here in CA either, I just got my new HJC LT-12 (composite) helmet from Wilsonsmc.com. $120 plus shipping. Not bad. It's a very nice and light helmet, my third HJC. They are good quality, and always getting better. I couldn't pass up the price, but I don't think it can be had at that price anymore. You have to check their website weekly, they have weekly specials. They have awesome deals on motorcycles, as well. And they will deliver them to you. Right now they have a MuZ Panther new at $5299. Tempting!
