vibration problem?

Post by Krieger, Larry » Tue Oct 03, 2000 11:17 am

i'm still thinkin' yay or nay on buying a new or recent klr. how many folks have a major problem with the vibration? the post comparing the dr sounds like his bike is unusual, from what i've gathered so far. but i don't see how factory variations could account for that, except mechanical problems like bogus carburetion, valve or vacuum problem, or broken mounts (whatever type the klr has). . . .thanks. the harley 883 has that kind of vibration typically; seems like the klr doesn't??? lk -----Original Message----- From: Conall O'Brien [mailto:klr_a7@...] Sent: Tuesday, October 03, 2000 12:12 PM To: harry_thames@...; DSN_klr650@egroups.com Subject: Re: [DSN_klr650] KLR650 foot crank I have a kickstarter on a '93. vibration problem?

Post by Joe Percival » Tue Oct 03, 2000 11:22 am

I have a 99. I do not have any vibration problem other than the mirrors getting fuzzy above 35mph. I have ridden 12 hour days with an MT21 on the rear and vibration never entered my mind. vibration problem?

Post by Enlow, Kyle S » Tue Oct 03, 2000 11:22 am

I have a 1999 KLR 650. The vibaration is unnoticable other than the fact that at cetain RPMs the images in the mirrors are distorted some. I love my bike and would recommend it to anyone. It is awewsome. Being a recent 883 rider, I can tell you that the KLR650 is much smoother than the H-D. It's like comparing a paint shaker to a blender. People who complain about KLR vibration need to go take a test ride on a Harley 883. That will straighten your perspective out quickly. Motomama

I'm riding a '95 and find that the mirrors fuzz at certain rpm's. The rpm range and vibration changed with valve adjustment, carburation changes, and tire changes but was never uncomfortable. Gel grips help, but even they were an improvement rather than a necessity. Todd A9

My KLR250 Super Sherpa has 2000 miles on it and has never pinged. I usually put a mid-grade gas in it. LindaT. Springfield, VA, USA 99 R1100RT Mr. Buzzy 95 F3 Purple Haze (68K miles and counting) 00 KLR250 Tenzing http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Pit/4807/
