Turbulence at a sidecover vent might make a bigger (negative) difference than any heat from ex-radiator air. I take it you won't be using saddlebags, too. Then there is rain runoff to take into account. Maybe some preliminary aerodynamic tests with wool tufts might be in order. [...]
