[dsn_klr650] i am sick of the crap

I had just the opposite happen to me the other day. I was waiting on traffic to head home. I was sitting on what appeared to be a trail only when you look closely. Folks were slowing down like "What is that?" Then another mile down the road I passed one of the cages filled with kids. They went wild waving and smiling. I think I converted them... I agree with you Jim, I ALWAYS get little boys looking and dreaming to ride my bike. That's when I pull in the clutch and rev it up a few times. There eyes open up. They love it. And why wouldn't they. A dirt bike that can go on the road too. I over heard a guy say something to his buddies the other day about my bike while I was putting on my helmet, he said, "I guess he can't afford a REAL BIKE so he has to ride a dirt bike." I laughed because he got into a crappy rusted 1982 bmw with his 4 buddies in the back seat and I rode off enjoying the fresh air and loving life. Some people love it, some just don't understand!!! Bro's- I think its kinda funny all the mixed responses my Kaw gets............ Harley riders look, but not too close, cause its prolly one a those rice burners that can smoke their ass.. Not too good for the image when you're tryin to be bad. Tourers, Sport bikes, Wingers........double take, or ask questions to the effect......they may be growing envious. Little kids say 'hey is that a dirt bike?'........'yes.' I reply. They nod as if in acknowledgement that this device can actually transform humans into 'super-human' status or something I'm glad we're the underdogs, if we're the underdogs it gives us something righteous to stand for...........bikes that cost less.......not smack in the middle of a fad craze...... like most of the good things in life........often overlooked, rarely understood..........always sought after.... Enjoy things now......my bet is, in the next 20 years dualsport bikes will be running around like SUV's are today. The bottom will fall outta Harley and the Cruisers..............and we'll have 100% more vehicles on what are 10% of the trails today. We have the best of times.....right now...... a Slide view

Hi Neil Watching this list, a reasonable conclusion might be that a major goal of KLRista listers is to "make their KLR as unrecognizeable as possible." (not naming names here, but y'all know who you are!) If other KLRists do neck-straining doubletakes, why so surprised if the rest of the motorcycling public says "what's that"? Who again is responsible for warping the public's perception? (must be Gino.....) Tom (who knows a good hobby when he sees one!) ==========================
