[dsn_klr650] supertrap ear/steering stem bearing adjust

Post by Tumu Rock » Fri Sep 01, 2000 1:42 am

I installed a Supertrapp EAR this morning. WOW! What a difference a simple swap can make. No more swiss-cheese tweety bird chasing me around. Now my bike actually sounds like a thumper...thump thump thump. Seat-o-the pants response is making for a very happy-ass. Much stronger pull above 5K rpm. Smoother at lower revs too. Of course with back pressure from the closed cap muffler I can really hear the lean backfire. Gotta drill out the plug on the mixture screw next week (no time this weekend). I'll do that in tandem with a much needed valve check. (5K miles and been putting it off for about 2K). I'm running 6 discs per the instructions adnit feels right (except for that backfire). No problems with fit like other listers have reported with the IDS2 model. I also adjusted the steering stem bearing (that li'l bastard was loose by about 1.5 turns!). Maybe that explains the side to side slap-back wobble I was getting on the highway last weekend. Now the only annoying noise left on my bike is the rattlin' Givi tailbox. dat brooklyn bum _______________________________________________________ Say Bye to Slow Internet! http://www.home.com/xinbox/signup.html
