How about this: density = mass / volume in (g/mL) or (kg/L) so, mass (kg) = density (kg/L)* volume (L) 1 gallon = 3.785 L so, the mass (weight) of 1 gal of gas = (0.72 or 0.75 kg/L) * 3.785 (L)= (2.725 or 2.839 kg) = 6.01 or 6.27 lbs depending on temperature This assumes, among other things, that my friend below reported a correct and practical density range for your typical gallon of motorcycle fuel. Not sure how Oil and Aviation Fuel got into this though.

Am I too late!!! Chuck A14

Jeppesen states in my "Private Pilot Manual" that a gallon of Avgas weighs 6
pounds per gallon, a gallon of oil weighs 7.5 pounds per gallon, a gallon of
water weighs 8 pounds. The Bosch Automotive Handbook states that gasoline
has a density of 0.72..0.75, Benzene (C6H6) 0.88, and Diesel fuel a density
of 0.81...0.85, and Kerosene 0.76...0.86.
