[dsn_klr650] klr & electric vest?
I have often used a Widder electric vest on my A2 with no problems. I have
not, however used it with the light on high beam for any extended period.

Can the KLR650 handle the load of an electric vest?

[dsn_klr650] rear suspension
From: Robert Morgan [mailto:robertlmorgan@...]
Subject: Re: [DSN_klr650] Rear Suspension
John, having ridden Elden Carl's own KLR I came to realize the short comings
of my own stock rear suspension. I am almost 6' 5" tall and weigh in at
appx. 260 lbs., I also tend to ride with too much gear. Elden and I sent my
stock rear shock to Bob Bell at Precision Concepts (619 593 7473). Bob hard
anodized the stock shock body, added a gas pressure bladder, the provision
to add a reservoir (which I don't feel is needed), and installed the
Progressive 560 heavy spring. Progressive makes a complete shock with the
spring already on it, however I prefer upgrading the stock unit in order to
retain the simple tension and valving adjustment already there ( it takes a
special spanner to adjust the Progressive unit). The single most effective
change is the spring, you will get the most bang for the buck there. I
reached the very edge of my Avon gripsters for the first time after having
upgraded my suspension, all that wallow in a tight corner went away.

Thanks for the info Morgan... I understand that hard anodizing reduces
stiction... but what does the gas bladder do? I've got the same spring
ready to go on... powder-coated a bright yellow! (thanks to Steven Timm).
Even though I'm down to 213lbs., I still think it will make a big difference
for me.
Cheers,
Arne
