tire cracks and deformities

This is a alittle off subject bike wise; but I figured some of you might have some background and experience with Honda's CR500. I'm thinking about getting a used one as a project bike this winter. I was interested in getting more info. on the bike - and wondering if anybody knew any good sources on the web. Looking for general info. + access to knowledgable fanatics etc... Thanks for any assist.

List, Last year I mail-ordered Dunlop K591s for my R100RT. By the end of summer the rear had cracks around tire on both sides. When I checked the manufacture date on the tire was surprised (not pleasantly) to find the tire was already 2 years old when I installed it. Would suggest those with problem Avons give us the date of manufacture and let's see if we can draw some conclusions from that angle. Joe Alberth A13
