Hi, Jess

You're in the right place. Some of us are loaded all of the time, all of us are loaded some of the time, but unfortunately we can't all be loaded all of the time. Have to work for beer money. But seriously, the DR is supposed to be better for off road, not as good on road. The KLR does well in both cases, and I suppose doesn't excel at either, but can likely be tweaked to fit your needs. If I could only have one bike, this would be it. My longest trip so far was 1800 miles, Denver to Los Angeles, which included mountain pass jeep trails. I've also had it on single-track, and loved every moment. This is the only offroad bike I've owned, though, so I could be missing something else. It seems to fit my needs. The BMW probably has similar capabilities, but the repair costs could be signifigantly higher, in the event of an unforseen get-off. (Aren't they all?) Just examine what kind of riding you really want to do, and go from there. Chris -- Dr. J.
