I'm thinking of getting my bore Nikasil treated - anyone know any reason
why this would be a bad thing? Would the rings wear differently? The
company that does it doesn't seem to think so...

I imagine the KLR's cylinder bore is already nickeled. Most bikes are nowadays. It's why the break-in period takes so long nowadays, and why you shouldn't use synthetic oil until you've put on at least 5000 miles, preferably 10,000 or more.> company that does it doesn't seem to think so... > > Rich

Good luck mounting a 150 on that narrow rim, it will really change the
profile of that tire. Pulling the sides of the tire close together at the
bead on that rim will make the tire balloon
shaped making the outside edges of the tread unuseable.

Dear collective;
Has any one mounted a 150 80/17 on a KLR? After I
removed the chain guard, I measured 20mm on either
side of the stock 130 80/17. Before I order the
expensive Pirreli MT 90's and mount them, I'd like to
get some opinions. I was considering grinding some of
the metal from the edge of the overlapping plate(not
the welded box secton)on the swingarm to give me more
clearance if necessary.
