Did they say what kind of internal failure? Seems it would have to be pretty servere to take the whole engine with it.

One of the guys in the dual sport club here has a XR-650 and at 12,000 kms or so he needed a new piston and the associated parts. At the end of last summer at about 14,000 kms his valvetrain was needing money thrown at it. One quick read in the local Bike Trader publication will find you all sorts of Honda's with many new parts on 'em. I am NOT a believer in the Honda reliability hype. Having said that, an XR-650 is a very sweet off road beast indeed! Good luck with your engine! Surprisingly, it doesn't take much to grenade an engine. My hunch is the failure of the cam chain assembly. Makes me really wish they would put the KLX engine in the KLR. Gino
