Group;
Well you fellers did it, you convinced me to buy a KLR. After
waiting 1 month my dealer finally got one in. Kawasaki told him they
were seeing that every dealer that ordered KLR's got one and that the
next one's probably wouldn't ship until near the end of the year so I
snatched up the one he had for $4599.
After riding it to work today; 50 miles total; I think I'm going
to get along fine with it although I was disappointed in the level of
vibration. Oh well, if all of you can live with it, so can I.
Before I even rode the bike after getting it home I spent about
2 hours re-doing the things the dealer's put-together man had done
wrong. I used to work on Yamaha's for a living and I know a bad
assembly job when I see one. Anyway, after lowering the fork tubes 3
inches in the triple clamps,(yes they let me take it home that way)
re-routing cables and wires, tightening and Loc-Titeing loose screws,
mounting my license plate (up high of course), properly aligning all
of the controls and mirrors and handlebar clamps, putting flat
washers above the front fender and Loc-titeing the bolts, and various
other things I was ready to ride it. KLR's sure are easy to get
along with. Hmmm, now, lets see what we can do about that
vibration. First I'm going to try Roberts rubber hose and sinker
idea. Then maybe check on the way Kawasaki rubber mounts the tank.
My Kawi tank bag, tail bag, Moose bash plate, Progressive fork
springs, and a new HRC helmet are on the way.
The dealer got this bike in the day after the lister's blown
engine horror story so I bought the 3 yr. warranty, giving me 4 years
total. (In writing).
Now that I've got this off my chest I can go back to lurking
which I've enjoyed for a month now.

You'd likely see some improvement in cruise economy as well if your jetting is right. You might as well tune things to suit your most frequent use. All too rarely. I'd post some myself but I haven't got around to fixing an electrical problem. Mister_T> Has anyone else posted dyno curves for a KLR?
