John, I was recently in Maine for 2 weeks touring on a KLR. I highly recommend you get Motorcycle Journeys Through New England by Martin Berke available at http://www.whitehorsepress.com\ for $20. The book has 6 sections covering the coast of Maine, the mountains of New Hampshire, the mtns. of Vermont, Lake placid,Lake George, and Lake Champlain, the mountains and villages of the Berkshire mtns, and coastal Ct. and Rhode Island. The section on Vermont covers two loops totaling 350 miles. Home base for the journey is Branbury State Park at the east end of Lake Dunmore in Brandon, VT. If you consolidate the two loops, you will tame five gaps, twice. The fun of crossing these gaps twice is the distinctly different terrain on each side of the Mountain. The book has detailed routes and descriptions and recommendations for food, lodging and entertainment etc. Conall Fremont CA ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
