a lighter klr: loosing some weight
........
1) Remove Luggage rack and steel side plates.
2) Remove Rear Fender/Tailight assembly.
3) Remove Turnsignals
4) Remove Chainguard5) Remove Passenger Footpegs
6) Remove Stock Exhaust
7) Remove Front Fairing and Headlight.
8) Remove one rearview mirror.
I would estimate the weight loss at 75 lbs!
Here's what I put on:
1) Acerbis universal rear fender with Maier tail/brake light.
2) KLX Numberplate with plastic headlight.
3) Supertrapp Exhaust.
Weight added around 15 pounds.Net weight loss 60 pounds!

I friend of mine saw an aluminium alloy subframe for the KLR 650 in a Kawi
shop in Germany. It amased him how it was tough as steel and VERY light at
the same time. Has anyone mounted that on his bike and what are your
experiences?
