Hello folks,
Wanted to know what would be the 'best' street tires for
my KLR. If I intend to do ALL my riding on the streets (
the KLR has been baught for a transcontinental journey starting
in england and heading towards singapore later
this year).
Yes I did go through the archives of the list it seems that
Avon Gripsters are the prefferred choice but for bumming
around the third world i'd need something with more life
in them then the gripster's 7 to 10 k miles.
Are there any longer lasting 'all street' tires
with a longer life which somebody would know of ?
Thank you,
Brar

street tires other then avon gripsters
You might want to look at Kings tires. They are reasonably priced and a few of the listers have tried them and are happy with them. I don't think the list has any long term data though. Check the archives to be sure. My dealer stocks them and is pricing them a few dollars less than the list price which is pretty low. Unless I hear of problems I'll be putting a set of the KT-967's on my KLR this winter. Tom wrote about street tires:
Tom, How do the Roadrunners differ from the Gripsters? I, too, am starting to think about what tires I will want next time for an all-street setup. I have been working under the idea that I will want Gripsters. BTW, are there two different kind of Gripsters? Which is it that I would want for street use? Ralph Ralph E. weird klr problem
OK, I don't know if this is common or what, but this is the second time
that a strange prolem has been encountered with my Y2KLR.
I start to dismount the bike, and as the left foot slips to the ground
so I can get off, it brushes against the spring that works the
kickstand. With what seems to be minimal force, the spring comes off of
the darned place it's *supposed* to be. Needless to say, it takes a
mighty effort and a couple stout screwdrivers to get the thing back on.
Anyone encountered this odd problem before, or am I alone in my
suffering...
